Math Tutoring.
The university provides two types of support services for mathematics
students who need additional help beyond that available from their instructors
in class and during office hours. As the first line of help, students
may visit the Mathematics Tutorial located on the second floor of Lane
Library. In the Mathematics Tutorial, well-trained student tutors are
available to help with college algebra and learning support mathematics
and, as permits, with higher level mathematics courses.
An additional source of help for college algebra students can be found
on the web page www.math.armstrong.edu. On this web page, a button is
found that leads to a web tutorial for college algebra authored by Dr.
Munson of the Department of Mathematics. Further, in the audio-visual
unit of the library, students can view videotaped lectures related to
each of the topics in College Algebra and Precalculus.
Using either or both of these resources will aid the student who approaches
mathematics with some trepidation. For maximum efficiency, students are
advised to spend some time working on their own before using the support
services. Hard work followed by additional help will provide successful
results for most students.
